Our favourite Apps for your travel

Are you that kind of person, who likes to discover places by himself? Without a good map you might get lost in Australia. Thus you need a good navigation, which leads you to the best places without any trouble. MapsWithMe, Here and OfflineMaps are for free in most matters. If you spend 4$ on MapsWithMe you will have all functions such as setting marks, live navigation, searching in categories and much more. All GPS work without an internet connection.

Another essential app is a currency converter. You simply download „Easy Currency„, which works offline just perfectly. You can even save your favorite currencies, which makes it a lot easier converting in different places or to compare prices.

Every time I book flights, I mix them up. It drives me crazy, I just can’t keep the flight details in my mind. This year I found the perfect solution: CheckMyTrip is awesome! You can import every flight of whichever airline and it will give you an handy overview. Delays, Gates and such things are displayed right on your phone.

You are hungry and don’t know where to go to? Well, I find Urbanspoon very helpful on this matter. You can set your filters as you like and it will provide restaurants/ cafe’s/ bars around you on a map. Pretty good!

Apps for accomodation, rest rooms and related

Do you know that problem not knowing where the rest restroom can be find? You might even be looking for a shower or a disabled toilet. Whatever you are looking for: JustinTime is our favorite app ever! It covers most parts of Australia and is very reliable,too..the best thing: it’s a freebie!

Also a very popular app is WikiCampswhich gives you any information about rest areas, camp sites, caravan parks. Mostly you can mark your favorites and get quotes as well. Phone numbers and websites are provided in most cases. This app is a must-have. After a trial of 2 weeks you’ll have to pay about 3$. It’s worth it. Anyway, if you don’t want to pay, set the date on your phone backwards. Proper behavior though is buying it.

If you are hiking, bicycling or simply curious of which ways you went or how many kilometers you made today, download my tracks from google. It’s really cool, since it records every step you take. All it needs is GPS. You can check distance, heights, time of movement, time of rests, routes through forests, whatever…

Another essential app is gumtree. Whatever you are looking for, you’ll probably will find it on gumtree! Looking for a car? A job? Camping gear? Ahare room? Appartment? Car equipment? Freebies? A lift to another place? Check it out.

Looking for a cheap place to park your car? Check out on CheapParking, what spot is the cheapest! It covers Australia, New Zealand and Singapore and does a great job!

productvity apps

Are you a keen photographer or simply a picture collector? You might feel your phone/ tablet/ notebook is being filled up with photos and you are running out of storage. Even if you upload pictures for your blog, emails and such, resize me! pro is the perfect app to solve your problems. There’s also a free version, but you won’t be able to work through a stack of photos at once.

As we are talking about pictures, you might want to edit some of your great ones. There’s heaps of apps, which will do a great job. In case you don’t want to spend money on Resize me! pro, you can download Adobe Photoshop Express which actually resizes your pictures after editing anyway. It’s free as well.

PicsArt Photo Studio, Photo Editor Pro, Autodesk PixLR and many others are very good as well.

Have you ever thought about sending a post card made of your own pictures instead of buying one? Well if you’re from Germany, the best option would be InstaCard (from Pixum). Being from somewhere else you could use InstaCards (Instagram). You can send your photos to your beloved ones back home! It’s a lot faster and individual.

Security

Do you want to do online banking while travelling or enjoy security in general, you might want to try out HotSpotShield. This app has a free or paid version as well and it allows to build a VPN connection, which makes browsing a lot safer.
